I’ve been writing this series for a while now, so my ears automatically prick up when anyone mentions a new studio. So when interior designer and fellow dbcollective member Heather Jenkinson, mentioned that very thing, I was all over her like a rash.
Heather is a very talented designer with real poise and she often has a different and interesting perspective on things, so she’s a fascinating lady to talk to.
She’s also got an incredible eye for colour, often spotting accidental combinations in the world around her.
As expected, her studio is calm and well-organised, but not cold. There are hints of inspiration and personality everywhere – just not enough to distract you from the task in hand. The perfect balance of creativity and function. I love the ‘H’ mug…
…and as her assistant will testify, tea plays a very important role in the creative process in Heather’s studio.
As Heather’s business expands, so does her requirement for space, so she’s already got her eye on the studio next door, which is twice the size of this one!
A place for everything, and everything in its place…
But the newest addition to Heather’s studio is definitely my favourite – and I can’t believe she’s my first creative spaces dog… meet Winnie.

This is almost *exactly* how I imagined Heather’s studio would look like. I love the open face brick work and how those lovely large windows allow so much light in. I love these interviews with the little photo snippets of odd bits and pieces, like the tea and cups, helps to convey the personality of the space inhabitant. Love it.

Thanks Stephi. I do really believe that the space a person creates in has a massive effect on their creative output, and says a huge amount about them and their work, so I find them endlessly fascinating! Glad you’re enjoying the series.

I hope you are planning a book based on these studio spaces, now that you’ve launched the first interviews one?

Wow, love all the white magazine boxes and the iPad and keyboard, so stylish. That puppy has a slightly crazed expression in his eyes!

Absolutely fantastic. The exposed brickwork contrasts nicely with all the white colour scheme.
