As an avid follower of Katie’s blog, I decided to make the small investment and purchase the book. I found the variety of designers interesting and learnt many things about them on a personal level: their thoughts and inspirations rather than just reviews of their work. This is a great book to dip into for reference and as a study guide for aspiring design students. Recommended purchase.

Congratulations on the book Katie you’ve done a fantastic job! Great selection of interviewees and beautifully put together. A great book to dip in and out of – I have my copy on my bedside table alongside my design guide
I would definitely recommend buying a copy!

I agree! This is a really good book – I love how Katie has initiated these wonderfully revealing interviews by asking such good questions. I also have to say that as a fellow DB Collective member, I would have bought the book out of loyalty and support, anyway, but as a designer – and one who truly cares about what makes good design, I hope she does a series of these books because the quality is such that it is a tangible contribution to the design industry. And a seriously good read!

I love the candid, conversational style of the interviews. With the designers talking so freely and comfortably, you really get a nice insight into the creative process, not just that of the individual designers but of the design industry itself. Well done!

Annie, Jess, Charlene,
Thanks so much for your lovely comments. It has been an amazing experience putting it all together and I’m so pleased it seems to be going down well. All credit to Zander at Venn Creative for the design and William Shaw for the foreword. Really glad you enjoyed it!

I was expecting to find a common thread or an insight into what makes a great designer, instead I was struck by the diversity of backgrounds and the vivid insights that Katie has unearthed. This attractive book would be a great addition to your coffee table and an interesting discussion piece.

Rich, Alex, Mum!
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I’m so pleased it seems to be going down well – and as my Mum quite rightly points out full credit to Zander for the design and to Clare for vast amounts of help, advice and editing! It really is the understatement of the century to say I couldn’t have done it without them – both very talented, generous (and patient!) people.
Thank you – enjoy the book!

Hey Katie,
loving the book; such a refreshing outlook on design in general, and great to hear the real voices behind inspirational design… hopefully others will see that it doesn’t all need to be about design-waffle and pretentiousness.
Looking forward to Volume 2 already

With most design books, I tend to dip in and out (probably due to the “design-waffle” ‘We Heart mentions!). However, I lapped Katie’s book up and read it from cover to cover….. and then again…and again.
Katie’s style is utterly refreshing and totally engaging. As a result, it’s accessible to non design-geeks but meaty enough for the dedicated too.
I can’t recommend it enough; thoroughly brilliant in every way and I can’t wait for the next instalment!

Thank you so much for putting your interviews together into this book. It’s a great read and offers so much more than the typical designer Q&A.
I hope, you’ll continue to make more volumes!

Hi Katie, Happy New Year xx
Apologies for my tardy response, Christmas got in the way, but it has given me the opportunity to read Interviews from cover to cover, 3 times to date!
I’m actually glad I delayed congratulating you on your fantastic book, because I couldn’t have shared my thoughts below, without a repeat read.
Each time I read Interviews, I found I saw the designers views from a different perspective compared to the previous read. Perhaps it’s because of the mood I was in each time, but more so because the questions you ask each designer delves into who they are as a personality, as a human, rather than focusing solely on their creations.
And for someone like me, who is relatively new to the world of design, as a result of reading Interviews, I find myself wanting to discover more about the designers you’ve profiled – designers I’d never heard of but also the ones I knew existed but have never taken the time to find out more about. You’ve done a fab job in helping raise the profile of them all, I love your writing style and your book is an absolute triumph. I absolutely enjoyed reading Interviews and will enjoy reading it again and again in the future.
Here’s to Interviews volume 2
Best wishes.
