I love writing this blog so much, that I’ve decided to make design writing my full-time job. I am offering my services as a freelance design journalist, and as a social media consultant and content creator…
Freelance design writing
I am absolutely passionate about design and love nothing more than writing about my favourite subject.
I was very honoured in 2010 to be awarded Best Interior Design Blog in Great Britain by mydeco, and in 2011, I published Interviews, a collection of conversations with designers including Wim Crouwel, Anthony Burrill, John Makepeace and Javier Mariscal. I had an essay published in Max Fraser’s London Design Guide and regularly contribute to Design Milk, we heart, and the Heart Home Magazine and blog. And I’ve just had my first article published in LivingEtc!
I am available for freelance design writing work – please get in touch via katie[at]confessionsofadesigngeek.com.
Social media consultancy and content creation
With eleven years experience in marketing and advertising, including social media strategies for brands like Blistex, and an award-winning blog to my name; I have decided to combine my love for design writing with my expertise in marketing and social media.
If you are a design brand, I can offer you everything from simply writing your blog and twitter feed, through to a full social media review, strategy development, content creation and evaluation. Please get in touch via katie[at]confessionsofadesigngeek.com.
Public speaking
I love public speaking – particularly about a subject I am so passionate about. I have spoken about Maggie’s at Decorex and have a speaking slot at this year’s New Designers advising young designer makers on how to get more coverage on blogs and in social media. If you’d like me to speak at your event, get in touch.
But don’t just take it from me…
“Katie stands apart from other design writers… She turns designers into real people. She allows designers to speak in the same words as the people who use what they’ve made. There’s something very democratic about that.” (William Shaw, Web Editor, London Design Festival.)
“This is a wonderful example of how blogging should be, [Katie] is clearly passionate about her subject and her writing conveys this enthusiasm to the reader. A great mix of architecture, interiors and creative resources. All in all, a great read” (Kelly Hoppen, MBE)
“…beautifully designed, consistent, thoughtful and a very distinct point of view.” (Brad Ford, Brad Ford ID)
“Katie is a fantastic contributor, always spending a lot of time seeking out the most interesting pieces to write about to make sure that we have something unique. She researches thoroughly and files in her work in good time, making the design process a dream. We always enjoy working with Katie.” (Daniel Nelson, Editor, Heart Home Magazine)
“Katie is pro-active, energetic and efficient. She absolutely understands our business and consumers. We really appreciate the support and insight (and constant good cheer!) she provides. She’s one impressive lady!” (Sally Ledger, Head of Marketing, Blistex)
