Martin Luther King said, “I have also decided to stick with love, for I know that love is ultimately the only answer to mankind’s problems. And I’m going to talk about it everywhere I go. I know it isn’t popular to talk about it in some circles today. And I’m not talking about emotional bosh when I talk about love; I’m talking about a strong demanding love.”

This was the brief to Morag Myerscough and Luke Morgan when London’s Southbank Centre asked them to take part in this summer’s Festival of Love. Their response? The Temple of Agape – ‘agape’ being the love of humanity.

Morag and Luke said, “Working on the project has reinforced for us that love in all its guises is not simple. At the same time, when you are in love, it can be the purest and simplest place to be.”

I went down on a beautiful sunny evening last week to take a look – and to see people enjoying their temple to love, whether they were walking through on their way to somewhere, stopping to take photos, or relaxing in a deckchair and taking it all in, it was a happy, colourful, loving, pure and simple place to be.

This is such a fun and vibrant monument! I saw it a few weeks ago when it was being built – the South Bank is great this summer. Must pop back down there this month 🙂

Good, isn’t it? It was so fun to see so many people interacting with it and enjoying it too.
