Firstly, a huge thank you to interior design duo, the 2 Lovely Gays, award-winning designer Ella Doran, and editor of Intern Magazine, Alec Dudson, who were our invited experts, as well as everyone else who joined in the debate from actual interns to founder of the creative industry’s answer to LinkedIn, The Dots, Pip Jamieson. We had a lively and informed debate about the challenges and rewards of design internships for intern and employer alike.

The overwhelming feedback was that most people are doing their best to be good interns or to be good employers – the problems are largely due to lack of resources, education and knowledge about how to do internships well, rather than lack of willingness to try. For that reason, we have decided, instead of creating a manifesto, to create a toolkit for interns and employers alike, that will sit within our Resources section.

And we are excited to announce that the toolkit will begin with a series of posts by Pip Jamieson entitled How to Land your Dream Job, which will include advice for new designers on everything from personal projects to internships. The series will start on Friday at 3pm, so keep your eyes peeled – and let us know in the comments section below if there are other topics you’d like us to cover in future posts.
