Design Academy Eindhoven

The Design Academy Eindhoven graduate show was definitely one of the highlights of Dutch Design Week for me – it was a real honour to meet so many articulate students presenting projects of a really diverse nature, and to have a tour from the Head of the Man and Wellbeing department Ilse Crawford. Some of the work challenged the status quo, some had a direct impact on making people’s lives better in some way, and some just really made you think – and as Ilse said: “How we think affects how things are”.

The academy’s Keep An Eye Awards support its best graduates with a grant of €11,000 to further their studies after graduation – I spoke to some of the finalists and winners about their work…

I particularly loved Renee Scheepers’ Revealing Maps of Cancer Care project, which helps people with cancer to understand their treatment plans.

Congratulations to all the Keep An Eye Grant finalists: Daniel Costa, Dienke Dekker, Luc van Hoeckel, Renee Scheepers, Martijn van Strien, Victoria Ledig, Erwin van der Krogt and Dave Hakkens, and especially to the four winners Luc van Hoeckel, Renee Scheepers, Martijn van Strien and Dave Hakkens.

With thanks to Daniel Nelson, my Dutch Design Week partner in crime, who I worked with to make the film above.
