Maggie's Nottingham

Green is a big trend in interiors at the moment, and it’s not just about the colour and it’s not just about “bringing the outside in” – it’s about reconnecting with nature from our increasingly urban and digital lives in a much more meaningful way. The image above is Maggie’s, a centre for people with cancer in Nottingham, designed by Piers Gough (the G of CZWG Architects) with an interior by Paul Smith. “The colours in the Maggie’s Centre are calming, light and positive,” said regular visitor to the centre Anna Read. “The greens evoke an energy that is positive and enriching. The fact the centre is raised off the ground creates the impression of a tree house. When you look out of the window, you are surrounded by branches. The greenness of the leaves provides a ‘security blanket’ around the centre.” If that’s not an endorsement for green, I don’t know what is. Check out my Pinterest board and let me know what you think…
