I’ve just discovered Maacraft and I thought it was worth sharing. Founded by product designer Dani Szalkai at the Miskolc Autism Foundation, it is a small Hungarian workshop, where designers work alongside people on the autism spectrum to produce everyday objects, embracing rustic surfaces, clear shapes, natural materials, contemporary design and traditional craft.

The profit from the project offers continuous support for these young adults, who are often unable to function in typical working environments, providing them with meaningful work and a living wage.

The program also contributes to the development of their social skills, as well as physical and emotional fitness, and cognitive and manual skills.

All the products are individually handcrafted using only natural materials. The current collection includes wooden stools, tables and boxes; and poufs, bowls and baskets made of willow.
