out and about :: stoke on trent

Design Geek editor Katie Treggiden was invited to home of British pottery, Stoke-on-Trent last week for a whirlwind tour by designer and ceramicist Reiko Kaneko. Reiko spent her childhood in Japan and studied at London’s Central Saint Martins – she relocated from the capital to Stoke-on-Trent to be part of the creative community and two centuries of knowledge that has built up around The Potteries. Her products include fine bone china, glassware, terracotta, and white china dipped in rich glazes mixed to her own recipes to create unique studio pieces.

Having established confessions of a design geek in 2010, Katie Treggiden has gone on to a career in design journalism, writing for titles such as The Guardian, The Telegraph, Elle Decoration, Stylist, Design Milk and Ideal Home. In 2014, she launched Fiera, an independent magazine dedicated to discovering new talent at the world’s design fairs. Her second book, Makers of East London, was published in 2015.
