Bilge Nur Saltik

It’s time to announce the next BRINK designer. I tried really hard to only select one graduate from each university, but the quality at the RCA graduate show was so high, it was impossible, so here is the sixth BRINK designer and second RCA graduate; Bilge Nur Saltik.

Nur was born in Istanbul in 1988 and studied graphic design at Yeditepe University, before beginning her MA in Product Design at the RCA under Tord Boontje. Of this project she says: “Through the ‘Share.Food’ I am thinking about the dinning etiquette of 21st century and best manner to share food. The plates and cups give the user the option of opening their plates to others. My aim is to encourage people to share their food; open your plate to others as an invitation to a conversation. I believe sharing will encourage more communication between people.”

I like the project because it is a response to a modern need – eating is a much more social endeavour than it used to be. And I’ll admit it, I also adore those flashes of neon orange! I’m really pleased to have Nur as part of BRINK.

BRINK is a showcase of 2013 graduate talent at Tent London (stand E02) 19th – 22nd September 2013. I will be posting more news on how it’s coming together and announcing the remaining designers over the coming weeks, so watch this space!
