Shed Test

Today I just wanted the share this mesmerisingly simple film of Edward Slater making prototypes in the shed at the bottom of his garden in Wimbledon, London…

I highly recommend a little explore of Edward’s website where he documents the making of each prototype in more detail. He’s refreshingly honest and relaxed about the failures as well as the successes for example, he says, “Although this system seemed to work when tested during making, near the end of the build when the jagged edge arms were attached, it didn’t work. Perhaps they were too heavy to be rotated.”

Shed Test

I think failure is something we all have to get much more comfortable with if we’re going to risk enough to really succeed, so Edward is a real inspiration to me this week. (And I’m hoping to get down to Wimbledon to shoot the shed for a creative spaces post, so watch this space!)
