I’ve been writing this column for quite some time now, a celebration both of typography in all its guises and of the fact that inspiration can sneak up on you absolutely anywhere if you stay open to it. I can remember being super-nervous to launch something quite so geeky, but the response has been overwhelming, so it’s time for you to get involved. This week’s collection of numbers is the last I’ll be doing in quite this way, because I’m launching the #photosofnumbers Instagram competition today… more on that below.

First, thank you to the lovely people at Cornish design studio Friends for their 2nd newspaper and a gorgeous number 2!

I spotted the mugs (2378) and the jugs (7654321) in Bergen on my recent trip for the 100{ff546b69e23b1524d799f96c6ba7a638e1f677053b0a2a1568b05315fd5f8fc7} Norway preview, the former in the shop of Kode Art Gallery and the latter in a lovely little shop called Solstrand Interior.

Now, about that Instagram challenge… I love Instagram and I’ve been thinking about how I could use it more, and I love it when you share your photos of numbers with me, so from now on, Friday is officially #photosofnumbers day! Starting today, share your snaps of digits on Instagram every Friday using @coadg and #photosofnumbers, and I’ll pick my favourites to include in this column the following week. Can’t wait to see what you spot!

out and about :: coffee and design in London

Even the most hardened of London explorers sometimes need to refuel. And the design geeks amongst us would always prefer to do so in a cafe or bar with some serious design credentials. Luckily, a few real gems have popped up recently. Here are my three favourites.
