Southbank Centre Shop coadgbursary

Home London expects 16,000 buyers to visit in its fourth year – and 6.25 million people will pass the Southbank Centre Shop window where the winner’s product will be displayed. This is a fantastic opportunity to get your products in front of the right people and get 2015 off to the best possible start.

2014’s winner Fanny Shorter said, “Winning the confessions of a design geek bursary has made all the difference to my business. The advice, guidance and donations provided by the mentors and partners were invaluable. There are so many hats you have to wear when running your own design business and winning the bursary meant that I had someone there to help with every “hat” at a time in my career when it would have been all too easy to become overwhelmed. I am so grateful to Katie and everyone involved with the bursary for making this year my best in business.”

2014 shortlisted designer Nancy Straughan said, “I was absolutely thrilled when I discovered I’d made the shortlist! Having no experience with trade shows meant that the bursary really educated me in what it takes to produce work on a more commercial scale. Since taking part, I’ve began to create products that I wouldn’t have made before and they’ve proven really popular, the same goes for new pattern designs. I think exhibiting at a trade show really pushes you and I ended up producing some work that I’m really proud of. I feel like I really know my brand now.”

Hi, I am a young designer, and I am developing a new range of products for which I would love to submit my application. Although these products has never been on show, I have had a stand once before, but it was for a very different range of bespoke designs for commissions. Would I be eligible?
    Many thanks,
    Marion

      Marion,

If the stand was at a mainstream trade show and under your name or brand name, then I’m afraid not. If it was a part of a shared stand and / or at a smaller event, then that might be okay. The opportunity is really for designers who have never had the experience of showing their work on their own stand at a mainstream trade show before. Feel free to email me if you want further clarification. Thank you – and best of luck with your new range of products.
