If you’re going to install a video camera in the ceiling of your studio and use the live feed as the homepage of your website, your studio better be pretty damn nice. And Sagmeister & Walsh’s studio is certainly that. I have been cooing over their space ever since I interviewed Jessica Walsh, so I was really pleased when Jessica agreed to share some more snaps for a creative spaces post.
“It’s kind of cliched, but we organised our books by colour. I’ve always found it easier to remember books by the colour of their cover versus trying to organise them by theme or subject. It really works for us – or me at least!” says Jessica.
I am slightly obsessed with ‘white’ whites at the moment and I just love how clean and white and bright the whole space is – a blank canvas for creativity.
“This is our kitchen,” says Jessica. “We all eat lunch together every day which is a nice time to bond.”
“We have a miniature table top photo studio that sits on top of our filing cabinets full of proofs and posters,” Jessica told me. I can only stare in quiet envy – I’m in the midst of trying to create an approximation of this in my own studio at the moment, but it’s slightly more ‘yoghurt pots and bits of string’ than this!
This is Jessica’s desk. She says, “I always like to have ink and brushes for doing hand written typography.”
